Hannah Leeper

Soprano Hannah Leeper is an emerging operatic and classical singer based in Alexandria, Virginia. She received her Master’s of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Opera from the University of North Texas, and her Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Luther College. While at school, she was a member of the prestigious Luther College Nordic Choir, and the UNT A Cappella Choir. She was awarded numerous scholarships, including the David Greedy Voice Scholarship, Cecilia Cunningham Box Voice Scholarship, and she was the inaugural recipient of the Jones Opera Scholarship. Beyond school, Hannah was named a Semi-Finalist in the Mildred Miller International Voice Competition with Pittsburgh Festival Opera (2018) and traveled to NYC to compete in the Violetta DuPont International Voice Competition (2019).

Hannah has performed operatic roles both in the United States and in Europe, which include the titular role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Musetta (La bohème), Nannetta (Falstaff), Casilda (The Gondoliers), and Valencienne (The Merry Widow - cover). In addition, she has performed scenes for the following roles: Violetta Valéry (La traviata), Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Cunégonde (Candide), and Laurie (The Tender Land). A versatile singer, she also performed the musical theatre role of Éponine (Les Misérables).

An in-demand performer, she holds several professional section leader and soloist positions, and she performs regularly through other concerts and recitals. Notable positions currently include: the soprano section leader and soloist with Thomas Circle Singers, soprano with the Washington National Cathedral Choir, substitute alto/soprano vocal mentor with the National Children’s Chorus (DC), diva at Sopranessence, soprano section leader and soloist at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church (DC), guest soprano soloist at Marymount University, and cantor/soloist at various Catholic Churches in the DMV.

Now based in the DMV since 2020, Hannah has been actively expanding her presence and leaving positive impressions both through her artistry as a performer, and as a successful private music studio owner. Now in operation for more than five years, Hannah’s Music Studio has offered quality virtual and in-person private voice and beginner piano lessons to students in the DMV and across the United States.
